Quality assurance inspections during construction
Architecture and construction, under one roof.
Traditionally, separate parties handle design, approvals and building, and every handover brings miscommunication, scope changes, cost blowouts and delays. Because we're both the designers and the construction professionals, design and construction are aligned from day one.
One team
Design, approvals and construction handled by one integrated team, with accountability for all of it.
One contact
A single point of contact, so communication stays simple and decisions are made with clarity.
Clear stages
A structured journey with defined outcomes and transparent pricing at every step.
Why custom builds blow out, and how the order fixes it.
Slope, services, access and council requirements mean a home's true cost is set by the site and the design together, not by a square-metre average.
| The traditional way | With Axis | |
|---|---|---|
| Who prices the design | A designer draws it, then builders quote the finished plans, often months later | The team drawing your home is the team pricing and building it |
| When you learn the cost | At the end, when the quotes come back | Early, with costs managed as the design develops |
| If it runs over budget | Pay for a redesign, or walk away after the fees are spent | Design decisions are matched to your budget before approvals |
| Your site | Square-metre averages that don't account for slope, services and access | Your site assessed before we quote, not after |
Five stages. Published prices.
No guesswork. Honest advice, thoughtful design and transparency in construction, with a clear outcome at the end of every stage.

Questions we're asked most
How much does it cost to build with Axis?+
Costs depend on the site as much as the house. As a guide, a three-bedroom home on a straightforward site starts from around $450,000, covering approvals and construction. Slope, access, bushfire and services affect the cost, which is why we assess your site before quoting rather than after.
What size projects do you take on?+
Most of our homes fall between $700,000 and $1,200,000. We've delivered projects beyond this and are set up to go further where the site and brief warrant it. The process doesn't change at either end of the scale.
How long does the process take?+
It varies with site conditions, design complexity and approvals. As a guide, allow around nine months for approvals and a further nine months for construction.
Where do you build?+
We typically work across Southern Tasmania, in both urban and regional areas. If your project is on the East Coast or in the north of the state, let us know, as we may be able to take it on.
Can I bring my own plans?+
We typically manage both design and construction so they stay aligned, but we can review existing plans and advise on the best way to proceed.
Do you work with people moving from interstate?+
Yes. We regularly work with interstate clients and structure communication so the process runs smoothly from a distance.
Do you do renovations?+
We specialise in new homes, so we don't take on renovations. For substantial extensions or rebuilds we're happy to chat, and if we can't help, we'll point you in the right direction.
Every project begins with a conversation.
We'd like to understand your vision, your site and what you're hoping to create. If we aren't the right fit for your project, we'll point you toward someone who is.
